Out now is the incredible new track ‘Just Hold On’ from electronic music royalty Sub Focus and Wilkinson. Don’t just take my word for it – between them they’ve racked up one billion streams. In its original form, its this hopeful shaft of electronic light, with bubbling synths and earworm melodies and Vula Malinga of Basement Jaxx on the soulful vocals.
Cue an intervention from Bristol DJ and Producer Eli Brown who’s remixed the track, given it a harder edge, and transported it into rave culture territory. Keeping the vocals at the centre of things, in fact making it the overriding strand, he’s wrapped it up in rumbling bass lines and hypnotising synth patterns.
