With co-writes from Starrah, Ali Tamposi alongside himself, Are you even real?, the new track from Grammy award winning singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer James Blake certainly has the buzz. Written as part of Apple’s global ‘Behind the Mac’ campaign it comes off the back of Blakes recent fourth album ‘Assume Form’, which has currently clocked in at 400 million streams.
Beginning with these glittering synth tumbling before you, Blake uses his instrument of choice to draw the emotion out – his vocal. There’s something about it, smooth but slightly cracked, the humanity and humility shining through that can just reduce listeners to a puddle on the floor. Accompanied by sweeping strings, echoey piano and minimal beats, he and his cohorts have come up with something extraordinarily beautiful and listenable.
