There is a heartbreakingly beautiful element to anything Iceland’s Jónsi (Jón Þór Birgisson) creates, whether it be through Sigur Rós or collaborations with partner Alex Somers.
Jónsi has just released a stunning video for a new solo piece of work – ‘Exhale’ – and, again, there is such an ephemeral, breathtakingly impossible ache to the vocals and instrumentation as the words It’s just the way it is, it isn’t your fault, just let it go now is repeated. It is what we expect, in a way, from Jónsi: classic, anthemic music that breaks your heart while enveloping you in a cloud of uplifting joy and optimism:
