London’s Car Boot Sale make a triumphant return with their latest single, ‘Feet Tappin’, a track that blends the vintage charm of rock ‘n’ roll with the raw energy of indie and post-punk.

Recorded in the band’s own basement studio in Dalston, ‘Feet Tappin’ exudes an authentic, unfiltered energy for the five piece. Built on a foundation of driving drums, grounding bass, and crunching guitar tones, frontman Jacques delivers a captivating performance with his half-sung, half-spoken vocal style, leading into a chorus that’s both anthemic and irresistibly chant-able.

Stripping back to bass and drums before bursting to life on a bed of thick, tight crunchy guitar tones, making it impossible to resist the urge to move. As comparable to The Strokes as it is to Thin Lizzy, the track is a simplistic yet vibrant and infectious gem.

The band describes ‘Feet Tappin’ as a song about letting go, dancing, and freeing oneself from inhibitions. “It’s a rocker that doesn’t let up; one to get the front row bouncing and the soundtrack to a sticky, smoke-filled dance floor,” they explain. The raw energy of the recording space itself—situated beneath the bustling high street of Dalston—can be felt in the track, with the distant echoes of the city seeping into the music.

Lyrically, the song offers a stream-of-consciousness narrative that leaves much to the listener’s imagination. Jacques teases listeners with cryptic lines like ‘Junkies talking in the twilight night’, inviting them to interpret the rest: “The first two lines suggest a scene & the rest is up for interpretation… Everything after is what they said, or is it?”

Having shared stages with bands like Fat Dog, Opus Kink, and Goa Express, the band have already embarked on their own headline tour across the UK as well as playing across UK festivals. Now back with ore new material, the band continue to hone their craft and set their eyes on even bigger things.
