Hilltop Hoods are back with ‘Never Coming Home’, the first proper taste of their next album ‘Fall From The Light’, which lands August 1. The single features New Zealand’s SIX60 and arrives with a full-scale music video that ropes in some of the biggest names in Australian combat sports, including UFC world champ Alexander Volkanovski.
The track came together in a writing session with SIX60 and longtime Hoods collaborator One Above. Volkanovski, Colby Thicknesse, jiu jitsu champ Adele Fornarino and others all appear in the video, which was directed by Jeremy Koren (Grey Ghost) with creative direction by Bill Bleakley.
For Volkanovski, who’s been listening to the Hoods since he was a teenager, the video felt personal: “It was funny, as soon as we knew this was happening, I literally got to the gym and Hilltop Hoods were playing. You’re Never Coming Home till your champ”.
Thicknesse said, “The first track I heard was The Nosebleed Section and I would listen to it to gee myself up before wrestling tournaments as a kid. I listen to a lot of their music at the gym throughout my fighter journey, so now, not only do I get to star in the music video but having it about fighting is just a very surreal moment for me. It’s been a real cool experience, a full circle moment”.
The upcoming album ‘Fall From The Light’, is the group’s ninth studio record and features collaborations with Marlon, Nyassa and SIX60. Also on the tracklist are recent singles ‘Don’t Happy, Be Worry’ and ‘Laced Up’. Production was mostly handled by One Above, with additional work from Suffa and Sesta.
Alongside the album news, the group have also announced the Never Coming Home national arena tour in early 2026, with all dates all-ages. Before that, they’re heading through Europe and the UK this August and September for a run of festivals and headline shows, including Electric Picnic in Ireland and Paradiso in Amsterdam.
