News: Liverpool’s John Witherspoon Announces Third Album ‘One of Them’, Shares New Single ‘End of the Line Again’

Liverpool based singer-songwriter John Witherspoon releases the new single ‘End of the Line Again’ and announces his third album, One of Them, set to arrive on October 31st.

Built around delicate piano motifs and his signature wistful vocal delivery, ‘End of the Line Again’ is as heartfelt and warming as it is beautifully constructed through well constructed melodies and beautiful harmonies. A poignant commentary on modern society’s contradictory values and the performative nature of fame. Through introspective lyricism, the song explores the anxiety-inducing contradictions of contemporary advice culture and the moral compromises often made in the pursuit of success.

“No one knows what the hell the answers are and we’d do well to stop looking for them,” Witherspoon says of the song’s core message. “The answer, as with almost everything, is probably balance. Between our good and bad, our motivated and our worn-out, our selfish and selfless.”

Drawing influence from recent headlines — particularly the polarising public debate surrounding high-profile football transfers to Saudi Arabia — Witherspoon reflects on the ethical grey areas of financial survival and the judgments that come with it. “I kept seeing ‘You’d do the same’ in comment sections,” he notes, “and it made me sad at how divided we are on our ideas of right and wrong.”

Raised on the Wirral and now a cornerstone of Liverpool’s music scene, Witherspoon’s work blends literary lyricism with melodic indie rock. Drawing inspiration from iconic figures such as Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, The Beatles, and the likes of Radiohead, his music weaves personal narratives with universal themes. Since his 2020 debut Showin’ up, Startin’ Again and the critically acclaimed 2023 follow-up Heart in, Head Out, he has built a loyal UK following through honest songwriting and evocative live performances at legendary Liverpool venues like The Cavern Club and The Jacaranda.

A beautiful example of what can be expected on the full upcoming album, End of the Line Again showcases mature, beautifully restrained and effortlessly affecting songwriting.
