News: Jonah Kagen announces Australian and New Zealand headline tour for April 2027

American singer-songwriter Jonah Kagen is heading back Down Under, announcing a run of Australian and New Zealand headline shows for April 2027, including a stop at Sydney’s Metro Theatre.

Following his 2025 Australian visit supporting country star Sam Barber, Kagen returns for his own headline tour, kicking off at Auckland’s Powerstation on 9 April. It’s his first visit to New Zealand, with Australian dates following in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle.

The Savannah, Georgia native has been making serious headway with his distinctive blend of intricate acoustic guitar work, alternative folk and emotionally charged songwriting. His breakout single God Needs the Devil reached No. 1 at US Alternative Radio, while his catalogue has racked up more than 500 million global streams.

His 2025 debut album, Sunflowers and Leather, was recorded during a year spent travelling across America in a converted Airstream studio. Featuring a collaboration with Sam Barber, the record captured the experiences of life on the road and helped establish Kagen as an artist to watch.

Now he’s back with his second album, Eternity of Anything, released via Sony Music. Written, recorded, produced and mixed almost entirely by Kagen himself, the album takes a more introspective turn, exploring love in all its complicated forms. Singles Do Better and Don’t Feel Right reveal a songwriter increasingly willing to push beyond his acoustic roots into darker more expansive territory.

It’s been a busy period for Kagen, who has completed a sold-out 32-date tour, performed alongside Dave Matthews Band at The Gorge and joined Dermot Kennedy on an extensive North American run.

Alongside his headline dates, Kagen will reunite with Sam Barber at Newcastle Foreshore on 11 April, appearing with Josiah and the Bonnevilles. He also joins the Country Fest Queensland lineup in Townsville on 17 April, alongside Barber, Brad Cox, Hayley Jensen and Lane Pittman.
