American hard rock heavyweights Sevendust are finally heading back Down Under, announcing their first Australian tour in nearly a decade for February 2027, with Brisbane progressive metal favourites Caligula’s Horse joining them for the ride.
It’s been a long wait for Australian fans of the Atlanta outfit, who have spent more than three decades carving out their own place in heavy music with a potent combination of crushing riffs, thick grooves and frontman Lajon Witherspoon’s unmistakably soulful vocals.
Formed in 1994, Sevendust emerged during a period when metal was undergoing a major transformation. Rather than follow the prevailing trends, they developed a sound that fused the weight of alternative metal with melody and an emotional intensity that set them apart from their contemporaries.
Fifteen studio albums later, they’re still going strong. With nearly eight million albums sold worldwide, hundreds of millions of streams and a Grammy nomination to their name, Sevendust have built one of heavy music’s most loyal followings.
Their latest album, ONE, released earlier this year, finds the band continuing to explore the muscular grooves and melodic instincts that have defined their career. Three decades in, Sevendust are showing little interest in slowing down.
Joining them are Brisbane’s Caligula’s Horse, whose intricate arrangements, soaring vocals and progressive metal compositions offer a compelling contrast to Sevendust’s more direct approach.
Across six albums, Caligula’s Horse have earned an international reputation for their technical musicianship and emotionally charged songwriting, touring extensively and sharing stages with the likes of Opeth and Devin Townsend.
It’s a formidable pairing, bringing together two bands from different corners of the metal world, each with a reputation for delivering the goods live.
For Australian members of the 7D Army, the wait is almost over. After nearly ten years away, Sevendust are returning with three decades of material and a new album to unleash on local audiences.
The tour takes place across Australian capital cities in February 2027, with individual dates and venues not included in the announcement provided.
Promoter presale begins Monday 9 November at 11am local time, followed by venue presale on Tuesday 10 November at 11am. General tickets go on sale Wednesday 11 November at 11am local time.
