Ella Fence has announced the release of a Double A Side Single and videos through Golden Robot Records.

First up is ‘The Child’ which has had an interesting gestation. Originally written by Fence on an acoustic guitar, she was later joined by two members of the pop/punk band The Bugs who helped her to further develop the song. The finishing touch for the song came in the form of a blistering guitar solo that was added by Louie Shelton of the Wrecking Crew. ‘The Child’ was produced by LA producer Scott Campbell.

According to Fence, “I wrote this song on acoustic guitar. I felt primed and confident vocally and had a cool idea for arrangements. I got together with Brock and Jordan, couple of boys out of Brisbane Pop/Punk band, The Bugs, and hit the studio. Brock was in control of production and Jordan got behind the kit and strapped on the guitar. The three of us sonically collided and that impulsiveness took The Child from embryonic stage to commence evolving. Louie Shelton (yes, that Louie Shelton), the legend Of The Wrecking Crew then blazed a guitar lick or two to the song. As you’d expect Louie gives a masterclass on lead guitar. Louie is a bona fide legend, he’s performed on and shaped songs for John Lennon to Lionel Richie.”

The track features Fence’s multi-layered vocals over a looping, hypnotic blues rock backbeat. Whilst Fence has been compared to St Vincent and PJ Harvey, her voice on ‘The Child’ has the gothic passion of Amy Lee of Evanescence. The song is intense and almost operatic as it builds to a fierce release.

The other song that Fence has released is ‘I Was Made For Loving You’ which is a cover of a track that was a massive hit for Kiss. Fence has reinterpreted this song for the 2020s. She has stripped it of any pop sensibilities and delivers ‘I Was Made For Loving You’ as a high octane rock anthem. Just as the iconic rocker Joan Jett did when she covered ‘Crimson and Clover’, Fence has not changed the gender of the love interest for her version ‘I Was Made For Loving You’.

Ella Fence is relentlessly hard working and has promised more shows and more new music this year.

‘The Child/I Was Made For Loving You’ is out now on all streaming platforms.
