Synth-pop duo Prides have returned with a new single, ‘Away With The Night’, released on 10th February 2017. The track follows hit singles ‘Are You Ready?’ and ‘Rome’, which sets the tone for the band’s highly anticipated sophomore album (due to appear later this year).

‘Away With The Night’ might tell tales of lust and unrequited feelings, but its melodies incite the pinnacle of an event, the moment before a night would fall to its knees. It’s a song that could fill dance floors and stadiums, with all their glamour and their ghosts, uniting fans together with a tune that is impossible to sit still to.

“Lyrically it’s a track I wrote as a response to a certain someone, who put a lot of expectation onto what/where we were, and ended up writing a song about me,” explains lead singer Stewart Brock. “This is my version of events.” Without wanting to speculate, it’s worth noting how artists deal with having extraordinary expectations placed upon them, often from virtual strangers, and how that can change their lives.

Prides want to put it all on the line rather than be bound by the reception of an end product. The music video was filmed at the Barrowlands, Glasgow, when the band supported indie rock trio Fatherson just before Christmas last year. The hometown show provides the perfect setting to demonstrate what Prides do best: undeniable party anthems full of feeling. If ‘Away With The Night’ is anything to go by, Prides’ next album is a must for everyone.
