Former 2 Bear and lauded DJ Raf Rundell is back with a new track ‘Monsterpiece’ out right now on Heavenly Recordings. It comes a couple of years after his debut Stop Lying, Raf Rundell, and features former Ian Dury guitarist Chas Jankel and vocal contributions from Joel Culpepperand Show Boy.

Of the track, Raf says “Time for new JAMS. Under the light of a silver moon we work on our Monsterpieces. One Blockhead, one Stepkid, a Showboy and a Culpepper. Never knowingly undersoul’d we step unblinkingly into the future. O.M.DAYS,” while on pulling Chas on board he adds “I tried hard to be Ian Dury,”explained Raf, “but realized I couldn’t. So I tried my best in a different way, and here we are.”

Seriously, you have to listen to Monsterpiece if you want your life to be even just the tiniest bit better. Sunshine Balearic beats and echoey funk filled brushes of guitar mix in with the sort of brilliant bassline the Blockheads used to deal in, generates Monsterpiece’s vibe. Flutes flutter around eachother as it feeds into this cauldron of funk, house and psychedelic soul. Over the top Raf lays down the party vibes, with this sheen of a chorus that sounds like something straight out of the Hall and Oates playbook.

Yeah, that good.

Word on the brilliant art and visuals from long time collaborator Ben Edge
