Track: Self Esteem – Favourite Problem (Alternative Version)

Sheffield’s Self Esteen has announced a new EP, Cuddles Please which is out on May 1st via Fiction Records, featuring alternative versions of three of the songs from her much lauded Compliments Please album from last year, ands a cover of Alex Cameron’s ‘Miami Memory’

The EP features a Sheffield-based choir, Neighbourhood Voices, which was founded in 2017 with the aim of creating a safe space for Sheffield singers to find their voices. Inspired by female-led, modern pop and indie choirs, they now consist of 60 singers and performed with Self Esteem at her recent Sheffield show for independent venue week.

The original leant itself to choral singing anyway, and so it’s no surprise it works, the choir actually adding to the song , it’s rich harmony making the track if anything a little more emotive, while Self-Esteem’s perfect pop voice glitters over the top.
