Hot on the heels of announcing details of her Fear the Future tour, Annie Clark aka St. Vincent has released some new music in the shape of a track, New York. It’s the first new material since her brilliant self-titled album from 2014, and it takes a left turn from that guitar laden sound, with Clark planting her feet firmly in piano ballad territory, giving it this earthy beauty with accompanying strings and vocal harmonies, as she pours out her heart with stinging lines such as “You’re the only motherf***er in the city who can stand me,” meant to get your lip quivering. It works.

She hits the UK in October for three dates. Not to be missed, judging by her previous dates.

17th October – London, O2 Academy Brixton
18th October – Manchester, O2 Apollo Manchester
20th October – Dublin, Olympia Theatre
