The new single ‘Minacious’ from Sydney/Gadigal band Valley Onda is shrouded in a mysterious fugue as sparkling guitars set up a hypnotic chime over the soothing vocals that have a yearning, expressive range. There are detectable elements of later period Radiohead in the delivery for sure, but infused with a soul-infused tinge and an atmospheric air.

The band says of the single:

‘Minacious’ is the spirit of going through to move beyond. It’s about confronting your fear and stepping into the unknown. With a Western Sci-Fi feel the song moves through eerie landscapes, unafraid to keep taking steps towards its transcendent destiny. A voyage if you will. Again this song has a heavy studio vibe, which combines all of what makes Valley Onda great, big guitars, synths and beats under a huge vocal.

The track is accompanied by a mesmerising video which adds to the mystique:

‘Minacious’ is out now and available to download and stream here.

The band is composed of Jordan Wilson (vocals, guitar), Michiya Nagai (keys), and Galen Sultmann (drums). As individuals, members of Valley Onda bring heavyweight credits – Jordan Wilson (former member of Georgia Fair) has opened for Paul Kelly, Laurel, and John Mayer, while keys Michiya Nagai has performed with electronic outfit Lamalo to audiences at The Grass is Greener and soundtracked a TEDx Melbourne virtual event.
