Track: The F16s release the delightfully dark and humorous ‘I’m On Holiday’ in advance of EP ‘Is It Time To Eat The Rich?’ due out in October

From the southern corner of India the four young men The F16s have spun a magical note with their recently released single ‘I’m On Holiday’ via House Arrest. Dark comedy resting on retro synth sounds and rich guitar tones, this song should be your pick this season.

This chill vibe lead single is from their upcoming EP ‘Is It Time to Eat the Rich Yet?’ which is due to release on 22nd October. Harnessing the morbidity of the pandemic that has prematurely challenged the expiry dates of careers, mental health and personal bonds, The F16s have penned a satire on the new norm and armored it with fun pop feels that you’d love to add to your pool side party playlist.

Boasting of gritty guitars and suave surf-rock keys ‘I’m On Holiday’ creates a strong hook right from the beginning, more so when it is married with the woozy breathtaking vocals by Josh Fernandez. Although it might bear a semblance to the sounds of Tame Impala and Pond, The F16s creates their unique quotient with striking drum fills and evocative synth patches that have been tactically placed.

Lyrically it definitely speaks for a million forlorn souls. For them who had to physically distance themselves from their lovers for a bit too long, and have been faced with the emotional reality of a waning relationship. The deficit of physical proximity questioning love, and exasperating over the thought of this lingering forever, this obscure malaise tucked in cushiony summer sounds is the beauty of this single. This might be an oxymoron but you cannot blame yourself when you find yourself grooving to the sound of accepting despair.

With their formula of creating hallucinogenic sounds, over the years The F16s have become quite a favorite for many in their home country, India. This new 2021 addition is not one to be missed.
