As part of our ongoing love of The Orielles, since they’ve released the Wrongtom Remixes of Space Samba (Disco Volador Theme) taken from their recent, brilliant Disco Volador album – we’re happy to talk about it on Backseat Mafia.

He’s taken the already brilliant track, traded in the disco indie feel and replaced it with this sun-baked dub, all echoey off beat guitars and big basslines. It’s still got its killer hooks and chorus’s so If you need something to soundtrack your long afternoons in the garden during these weird lockdown times, this is it.

Wrongtom himself says “I was already a fan of The Orielles’ mish-mash of pyschedelic post-punk-pop, so when I heard the mutant disco of Space Samba, I knew I had to get my dubby mitts on it”.

The band have also announced a competition offering fans the chance to do their own remix of the album track Euro Borealis, saying “We thought that a remix competition would be a great idea during these weird self-isolation times. Being big fans of doing remixes ourselves, as well as listening to and DJing remixes, encouraging you guys to get creative and having access to our album in a unique way was something we liked the idea of. We’re buzzing to see what you aspiring astral travellers come up with! Boogie to space!”

The music files needed to remix the track, and details of where to send the finished remix can be found via the following link from the link below, with a closing date of April 23rd.

The winner will have their remix pressed on a one off dub-plate and receive a copy of ‘Disco Volador’ on vinyl and an Orielles t-shirt.

Finally, the band have also put together a playlist of a number of their favourite remixes which can be heard here:
