Nicole Atkins is gearing up for the release of her new album Italian Ice, out on May 29th on Single Lock Records, which features amongst its numbers members of the Bad Seeds, Midlake, Dap-kings. From it she’s streaming a new video for the track Domino.
It’s a groove-heavy electro pop gem, built on this funky riff that sees the bass and guitar working together underneath sweeping organ and synths. It’s big on hooks and melodies, with Atkins assured, soulful vocal steering it clear of anything thats too sugary and over sweet.
It’s accompanied by a video directed by Taylor McFadden, who says of it “Domino is a homage to the iconic opening scene to ‘Saturday Night Fever’, mixed with Nicole’s Italian roots in Asbury Park and that boardwalk soul.”
