Forget Jingle Bells. Australian alt-pop troublemaker RinRin has a few choice words for Santa Claus, and she’s delivering them with crushing riffs, explosive breakdowns and absolutely no Christmas cheer.
Fresh from signing with Fearless Records, RinRin unleashes It’s Christmas Time, a gloriously irreverent anti-Christmas anthem that takes aim at the inequality lurking beneath the festive season’s feel-good traditions.
Musically, it’s a riotous collision of pop-punk, hyperpop and heavy rock, with infectious melodies, electronic flourishes and sleigh bells competing against furious guitar riffs. There’s plenty of humour, but RinRin’s message has teeth.
The release follows fever dream, her Fearless Records debut, which landed on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists across eight countries and introduced a wider audience to her genre-bending sound.
RinRin is also gearing up for a busy end to the year, supporting Windwaker on their national smile, you’re on camera tour this November before appearing at Melbourne’s Good Things Festival on Friday 4 December.
