Reb Fountain is building up heady anticipation for her new album ‘How Love Bends’ with the release of another breathtaking track ‘Nothing Like’: an absolutely delicious, shimmering track punctuated by an air of melancholia and with ethereal strings wafting through the ether.

There is a carefree romanticism in the track: Fountain’s vocals are like a silken veil in the slipstream, yearning and achingly beautiful.

The lyrics are raw and romantic, exploring the heady optimism brought by new love and the limitless possibilities of this new life:

There’s nothin’ like New Love to raise your head
Nothing like Falling for wings to spread
Breathing for the sake of it
Nothin’ like dreaming for cheating death

Fountain says of the track:

Our vision of the world is a reflection of our shadows; hungry ghosts searching for our likeness, we are clouded by the umbra that binds us. ‘Nothing Like’ brings a musical presence and lightness that underpins ‘How Love Bends’ … although the song arrived at the last minute it was always there; a force of human nature guiding me to make sense of it all

The accompanying video was directed, filmed, and edited by Fountain’s daughter Lola Fountain-Best, and shot on a Koda Super 8. In the retro style film, Reb is pictured adventuring the seaside with a horse Dark, together walking through the sand, hills, and water. It’s as euphoric and poignant as the track.

This is an absolutely beautiful track. You can download and stream it via all the usual sites.

This is the third single off the album ‘How Love Bends’, which is slated for release on Friday, 7 March 2025 via The Orchard. It follows the single ‘Forever’ which Backseat Mafia premiered late last year. Reb Fountain and her full band are embarking on a nationwide New Zealand tour throughout April and May 2025 to celebrate ‘How Love Bends’.

In ‘How Love Bends’, Fountain muses on the transformative power of love. She says:

Love is a first kiss, a late night call, an ache of longing that can break your heart or a long drive with the top down to anywhere but here. Love can equally be contained, repressed and longed for as much as it can save, nurture and embolden. Love is a measure of our humanity or how lost we have become.

This is essentially another brilliant release from Fountain to look forward to. And based on the evidence thus far, it will be transformative. You can pre-order it here and through the link below.
