UK producer Frankie Alpha release the alt-electronic weller ‘Pisco Biscuit’. Bringing a soundscape comparable to the likes of Jamie xx, Bonobo and DARKSIDE, the single showcases a rich, textural soundscape ahead of the upcoming debut EP.
An example of the intricate production and expansive sonic palette which stylises Alpha’s sound, the track brilliantly navigates experimental ideas, live instrumentation, dusty disco textures, and beautifully worked vocal samples. Driven forward by crisp percussion, the tracks vintage feel is beautifully accented by what Alpha calls “warmth and funkiness throughout.”
“This one started out from a place of pure simplicity,” Alpha explains. “If you own a pair of KRKs, you’ll know just how satisfying a good beat can sound on them. Built for the festival floor, the twin attack kick drums – both crisp and muddy – dish out a pounding stomper of a beat that’s laid back in feel, joined at the hip with some well-groomed hi-hats.”
Over the past year, Alpha has steadily built momentum with self-released tracks like My Energy My Salted Butter, a house-infused groove, and Elm Grove, a drum and bass exploration. As one half of the alternative/indie duo Dope Rooms, his musical roots stretch across genre boundaries. Drawing on early influences from The Chemical Brothers, Radiohead, and Deftones, as well as contemporary artists like FKA Twigs and Bonobo, Alpha’s approach to electronic music remains both playful and precise.
