They’ve provided support for Echo & The Bunnymen, had their cover version of Chris Isaac’s ‘Wicked Game’ adopted by the BBC , been re-mixed by top psych band Toy, received critical acclaim and support from Radio 1, 6 Music and XFM, and all within 18 months of forming.
Warwickshire duo, Coves are certainly making all the right noises. And after taking a glance at their latest video offering, ‘Cast A Shadow’ they are making all the right moves too.
Heavy on the reverb, John Rigard and Beck Wood, intertwine scuzzy guitar with dreamy vocals to produce a sound that is beguilingly trippy. Whilst clearly lending an ear back to the 60’s they present their own twist of magic to the space-rock / psych sound of today.
The video is been premiered now, well in time for it’s release as a single on March 17th, to pave the way for the band’s debut LP ‘Soft Friday’ released later that same month by Nettwerk Records. If you can’t wait that long, pre-order the album now , and you will get ‘Cast A Shadow’ straight away.
