Throw Down Bones are, Frankie Frankie, (so cool they named him twice!) : Guitar/Synth/Vocal/Effect, Dave Cocks: Bass/Percussion and James Aparicio: Producer. Throw Down Bones is “Noise Militia, Amnesia haze kraut and Philosophical drone”.

Risen, phoenix-like from the ashes of Piatcions, “THROW DOWN BONES is the answer, a personal therapy, a rehab from life, an artistic space without structures where we can let music flow naturally.”

For certain, these guys kick collective ass live. I consider myself extremely fortunate, to have witnessed the Throw Down Bones performance, as part of the recent Fuzz Club Records Festival. Frankie and Dave brought their raw, elemental DIY ethos to the mixing desk, and summarily wowed the faithful with their blistering set.

The buzz of anticipation surrounding the release of their eponymous long player, is such that the ripples have coalesced into making them the most played Fuzz Club tracks on iTunes.

‘Exposure’, opens to industrial, mechanised automatons, giving way to a sparse reverb-soaked, imperious, floating gothic grandeur; ‘Our Home, The Holy Mountain’, like it’s namesake is an epic, a seven and a half minute celebration, it’s opening trance inducing cadence is contemplative and salutary, beatific, meandering, rhetorical patterned ornamentation; ‘A Premise To Action’, soars with doleful abandon, tenderly embracing within it’s discordant unease, waves of brainstem soothing bliss ensue; ‘Inner Flights’, pulses with motorik melancholy, throbs with  thrumming syncopation, prances with resolute candour, gliding to submission in freeform precision…

‘Emitters’, has the surging urgency of spiked bipolar transistors, post-punk insistency, conjoined in dance floor revelry; ‘Saturator’, is a soulful union, a concentric sound reflective collision, exuberant joyful interference; ‘Bones’, cascades in symbiotic harmony, a transformative hypnotic groove, a beat-suffused skeletal matrix; closing track, ‘It’s All Around Us’, resonates with glacial majesty, evoking the encompassing Gaian mantra, the primal mother personified, ancestral voices, synthesised in life-affirming, ecstatic jubilation…

The cathartic effect of experiencing Throw Down Bones, puts me in mind an inscription attributed to Carl Jung, “This is Telesphorus, who roams through the dark regions of this cosmos and glows like a star out of the depths. He points the way to the gates of the sun and to the land of dreams.”

Let Throw Down Bones light your path, empathically soothing the world-weariness from your shoulders…
