Brace yourselves. This music is going to smash you up.

Furious rhythms ? Check.

Links with Johnny Cash ? Check (ex-Cash bassist catches them performing in Nashville, Tennessee and promptly joins them on their album)

Clanging, roaring guitars ? Check.

Drums that just won’t let you quit ? Check.

Tom Verlaine’s spirit stolen from his body using dangerous voodoo, to be put to the service of the band ? Check.

Coruscating punk/rockabilly fusion ? YES.

Someone compared them to a “rough around the edges Jake Bugg”. Fuck off.  Jake Bugg is still cowering in a corner just cos he heard a few bars of this stuff.

Burning Condors have a new 7″ out now: the a-side is the sex-tempest “Love on the Rocks” and it’s backed with a breakneck rendition of my favourite ever Cash number “Folsom Prison Blues”.

It’s available to buy from:

But you can also check them out live at what is sure to be a sweat-soaked belter of a gig at the 12 Bar Club in Denmark Street, London this Friday 9 August.
