Countdown To Rebellion – Day 31: Introducing The Drowns

Culled from the remnants of  of their previous bands, Success, The Shell Corporation, and The Briggs, The Drowns are punk scene veterans from Seattle and LA who got together in 2017 to try their hand at creating something new, and have come with an energetic and heartfelt brand of streetpunk.

Their debut album, View From The Bottom, was released in 2018 on Gunner Records, followed in 2020 by Under Tension on Pirates Press. Sadly the coronavirus pandemic closed the live music industry down and the album never made the impact that it should have done.

The Drowns are gravel-voiced frontman Aaron Rev Peters (guitar and vocals), Andy Wylie (bass and vocals), Jonny Wade (guitar and backing vocals) and Jake Margolis (drums).

There’s hints of The Jam, Buffalo Tom and Down By Law in the music, and perhaps a tinge of Cock Sparrer.

Catch the flat cap ones at Rebellion on Friday 4th Aug in the Empress Ballroom at 17:15-17:55.
