Exclusive: New takeover mix from Rainbow Tipi label boss and producer Linear B

Kent producer Linear B has recently dropped his new, seventh, EP, Finding Rainbows on his own Rainbow Tipi label. Treading the line between house and techno has always been the way Linear B has operated and in the past he’s had support from DVS1, Truncate, Noncompliant and others.

The four track EP opens with the brilliant title track, this dark slab of techno, with a nod towards acid and electro stylings accompanying the husky baritone of the vocals. The feeling of anxiety continues into the bubbling loops of Bugaboo, with its spoken word lyrics, while Tiny Heartbeats has this stripped down, percussive, almost early hip-hop feel about it. The EP closes with the claustrophobic Jericho Horns, a suitable finisher to this dark but appealing record.

Linear B has done a takeover mix for us right here at Backseat Mafia. Please go check it out, and take a listen. We’ve had a myriad of takeover mixes to dig into, including from King Britt, Mura, Kristi Yang and Shifting Gears, while our five resident DJ’s provide monthly mixes featuring the best in new electronic, jazz and world music, plus some classics as well.

Check it out here, and please follow us for the best in new and established talent in our mixes and monthly residencies.
