Elyne, a Post-Hardcore band from Ravenna, Italy embarked on a UK tour (well, three out of four did) touring with To Kill Achilles and Scream Blue Murder but even with only three of the band, they gave their all and gave the crowd exactly what they needed to hear. In between songs, frontman Danny (who was also playing bass for the tour) got the crowd involved with rhythmic shout alongs that brought out the crowds enthusiasm even more. Even Kappa on drums brought in crowd vocals in the middle of his drum solo that built up to an incredible crescendo of rhythmic energy and was one of the many highlights of the set. Bruno also gave a great performance, balancing intricate guitar riffs combined with a mix of clean and heavy vocals.

For my first gig of 2017, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I’d heard a few songs in the weeks counting down to the show but wanted to see what Elyne would be like in a live capacity before making a solid judgement. You’ll have to forgive the iPhone pictures as it wasn’t until the last song that I realised I needed to write about it and so I quickly took my phone from my pocket and took the best pictures I could to remember the event and to be able to share this review with you. With each song I lost myself in the enjoyment, the excitement, the crowd participation and the overall feeling of how great an experience this show was.

The way they worked with each other and with the crowd further showcased the fact that everyone was having a great time. Unfortunately their set was over too soon but news has it that with the new album coming soon, a new tour will be announced with it.

When a band comes along that simply brings you into the live experience, it’s something to write about and as more news comes on the upcoming album and the tour, we’ll be sure to share it with you.
