Johnny Hunter bring their “delightfully unhinged” (as per the NME) show to the Royal Hotel in Bondi tonight. The post-punk/indie rock band from Sydney, with lead singer Nick Hutt, in a white shirt and with eyeliner dripping, is a mesmerising mix of Robert Smith and Ian Curtis. A commanding presence, within 3 songs he has the audience who, at first, are standing a few meters back from the stage, up close. The band is tight and are the perfect foil for Hutt who delights the crowd by joining them on the dancefloor throughout the set. It’s way too much fun for a Thursday night in a chilly Sydney.
