Legendary Australian singing sisters, Vika & Linda brought their regional tour to the Theatre Royal in Hobart to rapturous applause from an adoring audience.

The show contained a selection of music from across their vast catalogue, with a focus on their latest album, The Wait, and showed that the wonderful harmonies that are such a famed feature of their sound, continue unabated over 30 years on from when they rose to prominence singing back-up vocals for The Black Sorrows, another of Australia’s legendary bands.

Ably backed by Cameron Bruce (keyboard/guitar), Ben Hauptman (guitar), Richard Bradbeer (bass) and Lachlan O’Kane (drums), Vika & Linda set about showcasing their wonderful vocal abilities with a broad range of styles from pop, to soul, to gospel and rock. As a treat for this Tasmanian audience, the girls performed songs written for them by Tasmanian-based artists, Ben Salter (My Heart Is In The Wrong Place) and Glenn Richards (Not The Same Girl). Special mention was also made for Kasey Chambers, another of the many great song-writers who penned songs for The Wait.

A Vika & Linda performance is always a joyous celebration of the power of music, and the interconnection and synergy that flows between these two hugely talented women. Their performance on this evening at The Theatre Royal in Hobart most certainly lived up to every expectation, and did not disappoint the capacity crowd.
