The award winner Cleere’s Bar and Theatre Kilkenny played host to a fantastic intimate show from Susan O’Neill supported by Declan O’Donovan

Opening proceedings was Canadian singer-songwriter Declan O’Donovan, one of the most sought-after musicians in Canada he played a set of six songs on piano/keys, with his set lasting for 30 minutes and in-between songs telling stories.
One such story about hiking in the woods and maybe! having taken some mushrooms, he started thinking about bears and the safety of his hike, nothing happen till the end of the hike were he actually did come across a family of bears and yes they were real lol. Finishing off by saying ”I’m not going anywhere as I’m playing in Susan’s band also”
You can check him out here https://www.declanodonovan.com/music

After a short break it was the turn of Susan to take the stage, Its been awhile since I have seen Susan doing her own thing as she has been pretty busy with other projects, so I was really looking forward to this show as she never disappoints and this show was no exception.
Opening with a new song Meet Me in the Silence and continuing the night with a mix of old and new, nearly each song had an introduction of what it was about and there were a few funny stories told in-between.
There were songs about self love / adultery / notions of being born innocent and drunk lovers.
Susan also is a multi-instrumentalist and this was also put to good use as she would switch from instrument too instrument.
Her set lasted for an hour and twenty, I have listed the set list as it was written, but it wasn’t played this way instead it was jumbled about.
Set List.
Meet Me in the Silence
Something Better
Truth Can Be Kind
Hear Us All
Now You See It
Innocent Marie
Tijuana

Our Mother is Begging to Breathe

Irish based concert photographer, maybe! ever so slightly addicted to gigs. Listens mostly to alternative / goth / folk punk / punk / ska. I blame the 80s.
