With 3 EPs soon to be under their belt, Harv Lake’s Ruina, are a new force in metal making big waves with their hard-hitting, emotive and riff laden music they are utterly compelling. We put some questions to the band as they are set to share that 3rd EP with the world.

Give us a potted history of the band

RUINA has been going since late 2019 (good timing right?) and released 3 EP’s in the space of 3 years. It feels great to have this finalised version of us out and touring better than ever.

Who inspired you to start making music

The classics really. A lot of 80’s metal and early 2000’s metalcore.

And the one or maybe two records that inspired you artistically

Bullet for my valentine’s Venom and Katatonia’s Fall of hearts.

If you’re trying to explain whom you sound like to someone that’s never heard you, what do you say

I’ll use other people’s comparisons, as I’m terrible at describing our sound. Fans have said we’re similar to Bleed from within, Machine head and a bit of In flames.

Tell us about your new EP

Our new EP titled AS THE SKY BEGINS TO BREAK is about the balance between the breaking points of our minds. Struggles through thick and thin and breaking free of our demons. In times like these, I think people will relate to our message.

Where can we get hold of it

It’s available everywhere digitally – http://linktr.ee/ruinauk

Tell us how you write

This record was all written by Harv, as have the past two EP’s. But Chris had a huge impact when it came to recording his vocals. He knew how to add things in here and there that improved the songs massively

Tell us about your live show What would be your dream gig

Dream gig would have to be any arena or big festival really. Bloodstock would be ace.

What can we expect from you in the near future

We’re going to be cracking on with an album as soon as our tour finishes in October. We’ve done 3 EP’s in 3 years, we think it’s time to do a full length.

Tell us your favourite records that’s rocking your headphones/tour bus/stereo

One we all really click with is Metallica’s black album. Bangers from front to back. We all absolutely love it.
