Alex Lahey has released a new single, ‘Good Time’ off her new album, ‘The Answer Is Always Yes’ which is due out on 19 May (via Liberation Records).

‘Good Time’ was co-written and produced alongside Jacknife Lee (U2, Taylor Swift,) and was inspired by a night out in Melbourne.

As its title suggests, ‘Good Time’ is infectious and upbeat and guaranteed to raise a smile.

“This song was inspired by a night out I had at the pub with my friend soon after Melbourne came out of lengthy lockdowns. We were watching all these strangers around us have this ‘whatever it takes’ attitude towards making the most of the night (aka getting lit). It was a bit of a shock after being cooped up for so long, but also kind of invigorating.”

The track’s accompanying video, the second collaboration with LA-based filmmaker Jon Danovic, puts Lahey’s sense of humour at the forefront, depicting an open-mic comedy night where audiences literally laugh their heads off.

‘Good Time’ succeeds ‘Shit Talkin’ and acclaimed single ‘Congratulations’ which garnered praise from The New York Times, Stereogum, Consequence, Under the Radar, plays on BBC Radio from 6 Music icon Steve Lamacq plus spins from German stations DLF NOVA, Flux, BR Puls.
