News: Dublin’s KK Lewis Returns After Four-Year Hiatus with Tender Piano Ballad ‘Pigeon Man’

Dublin singer-songwriter KK Lewis is back. After four years away from the spotlight, the rising Irish talent marks her return with Pigeon Man, a tender piano ballad set for release on November 27th. The single signals the beginning of a new chapter in her career, capturing the bittersweet, liminal space of being in your twenties—caught between girlhood and adulthood.

KK Lewis first emerged as one of Ireland’s most exciting new voices, earning the title of Hot Press’s ‘One to Watch’ in 2021 and gaining recognition from Notion Magazine, Earmilk, The Thin Air, Nialler9, Ones To Watch, and national radio. Her debut EP Dreaming, released the same year, drew praise for its intimate songwriting, amassing over 85,000 Spotify streams, 1.6 million TikTok views, and 25,000 YouTube views across its video trilogy. Live performances at Electric Picnic, All Together Now, New Year’s & St. Patrick’s Festival, and the iconic Ruby Sessions further cemented her reputation as a captivating performer.

With Pigeon Man, KK revisits the emotions of first heartbreak. The song, inspired by her breakup with her first boyfriend in Dublin’s St. Stephen’s Green, centers on a small yet poignant memory: the “pigeon man” feeding birds nearby. The result is a stripped-back, cinematic ballad that blends nostalgia with raw emotional honesty, channeling the timelessness of classic Disney romance and soul while echoing the emotional depth of modern storytellers like Adele.

Recorded with Daniel Da Burca (Amble) in Drogheda, mixed by Joseph Rodgers (beabadoobee, Rina Sawayama), and mastered by JHJ (Olivia Dean, Adele, London Grammar), Pigeon Man showcases KK’s signature piano-led intimacy. She credits her collaborator Tadhg (SexyTadhg) for helping translate heartbreak into the song’s delicate piano arrangement. “We tracked it pretty much live in a studio in Dundalk, keeping it minimal and intimate—as if you were hearing it in the room, without being overly produced,” KK says.

“This song represents more than just a heartbreak—it’s about growing up,” she adds. “Everyone remembers their first heartbreak, that moment you realise love isn’t the perfect thing you imagined. I remember how lost I felt, having lost friends too, but how important my girls were. Female friendships soften the heartbreak, the confusion, the rejection—they remind you that you’re not alone.”

Over the past year, KK has been crafting a new collection of intimate, piano-led tracks with SexyTadhg, again collaborating with Rodgers and JHJ on mixing and mastering. Pigeon Man leads this new chapter, with a follow-up single, One Step Behind, scheduled for release in early 2026.

With her return, KK Lewis reminds listeners why she was one of Ireland’s most compelling emerging voices—and that her next chapter promises both vulnerability and timeless musicality.
