Los Angeles singer Jen Awad and composer Will Bates have released a new single, ‘Doomed to Loving You‘, which premiered September 11 on Paramount+’s series Tony & Ziva.
The collaboration originated after a chance introduction by photographer Diana Gomez at West Hollywood’s Petit Ermitage. The two artists discussed previous experiences in Ibiza, including Bates’s time at the Pikes Hotel. The following days included additional meetings, where Bates shared a song idea he had been developing, which Awad then contributed lyrics to, resulting in the completed track.
Awad, known for performing with a 12-piece band, and Bates, whose work includes scoring films such as Dumb Moneyand Another Earth and TV series including Unbelievable and The Magicians, describe the collaboration as a process combining lyric writing and instrumental composition.
Cinematic, emotive and beautifully nuanced the single is an ode to their pairs skill as both performers and songwriters.
‘Doomed to Loving You’ is the first of several songs they have written together and is featured in the soundtrack of Tony & Ziva, which has maintained a position in Paramount+’s Top 10 TV shows since its premiere.
