Saxophonist extraordinaire Tim Mayer has just released his highly-anticipated Jazz opus, ‘Island Time.’ Garnering acclaim from industry legends and critics, Mayer’s dynamic presence in the jazz world has created immense excitement for his latest musical creation.

Described as “an old soul in a young body” by the legendary Jimmy Heath, Tim Mayer’s journey in jazz began when he discovered the world of music through his parents’ record player at the tender age of four. His devotion to the craft became evident when he picked up the saxophone at ten.

Mayer’s ‘Island Time’ album showcases his saxophone virtuosity and his knack for crafting intricate, infectious smooth jazz with a funky twist.

From these modest beginnings, Tim’s musical journey led to immersive education at Florida State University’s Summer Music Camp, where he rubbed shoulders with talents like Marcus Roberts. Later, Mayer refined his skills on cruise ships, playing alongside renowned entertainers.

Further studies at Berklee College of Music under luminaries like Andy McGhee, George Garzone, and Bill Pierce solidified Mayer’s reputation as a jazz powerhouse. He performed with the RG Jazz Orchestra in Spain’s Canary Islands and participated in Mexico’s prestigious Seminar and Jazz Festival.

Mayer’s status as a consummate performer was cemented through collaborations with luminaries like John Faddis, Bob Mintzer, Slide Hampton, and Arturo Sandoval. His contributions to ensembles like Waitiki earned him Hawaii Music Awards and a Grammy nomination for La Clave Secreta’s Latin/Caribbean album. In 2023, he secured a Grammy win for his participation in Natalia Lafourcade’s ‘Un Canto Por México.’

In 2011, Tim Mayer stepped into the spotlight as a leader with his debut album, ‘Resilience,’ exploring post-bop nuances. He continued to shine on prestigious stages, sharing his talent with large ensembles and collaborations with acts like Don Tiki. His single ‘For Miles’ reached number 3 on Apple Music.

With a career spanning decades and international acclaim, Tim Mayer’s ‘Island Time’ is a testament to his artistic evolution. This latest offering is captivating jazz enthusiasts worldwide, solidifying Mayer’s position as a virtuoso in the world of jazz. Experience ‘Island Time’ now, as Tim Mayer takes us on a mesmerizing musical journey.
