Australia’s heavy music scene will break new ground in 2026 with the launch of PARK WAVES — a national travelling festival curated by Byron Bay’s own PARKWAY DRIVE.
Spanning 11 dates across the country in February and March, PARK WAVES will see the band take their long-running commitment to the live experience to an entirely new level. Described by vocalist Winston McCall as “the biggest undertaking in Parkway’s history”, the event marks the first time a band has built a full-scale touring festival of this kind in Australia — blending live music with a full-scale circus set-up, including performers, carnival rides, sideshow alleys, and food stalls.
The bill features a heavy-hitting lineup with PARKWAY DRIVE at the helm, joined by long-time peers THE AMITY AFFLICTION — the first time both bands have toured together on home soil. Sydney genre-benders NORTHLANE, rising metalcore force ALPHA WOLF, and post-hardcore veterans STORY OF THE YEAR round out the initial announcement.
The run kicks off in Perth on 14 February before heading through Adelaide, regional Victoria, NSW and Queensland, culminating in a final show on the Sunshine Coast on 15 March. The lineup will also perform in PARKWAY DRIVE’s hometown of Byron Bay.
With over 20 years in the game, PARKWAY DRIVE’s impact on Australian heavy music is difficult to overstate. From their early metalcore roots to a run of ARIA-winning and globally charting albums, the group has steadily expanded their sonic and visual scale — most recently selling out the Sydney Opera House in three minutes and launching Australia’s first heavy music cruise, HELLBOUND.

THE AMITY AFFLICTION, who enter a new chapter in 2025 with new vocalist Jonny Reeves, following a legacy of chart-topping records and over a billion streams globally.
NORTHLANE, known for their tech-infused heaviness, and winners of three consecutive ARIA Awards for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.
ALPHA WOLF, coming off a major North American run and still riding the wave of 2024’s Half Living Things.
STORY OF THE YEAR, the Missouri post-hardcore mainstays who last toured Australia in 2024 for the 20th anniversary of Page Avenue.
All shows are all-ages (16+), and general tickets go on sale Thursday 24 July via parkwavesfestival.com. Pre-sales for Parkway Nation fan club members and Destroy All Lines subscribers begin Tuesday 22 July.
