So-Cal punk veterans Descendents have announced that their upcoming 18-track collection – entitled ‘9th & Walnut’ – will be released on 23rd July through Epitaph Records.

Named after the corner location of their first Long Beach rehearsal space, ‘9th & Walnut’ was recorded back in 2002 with the band’s original line-up of Milo Aukerman (vocals), Tony Lombardo (bass), Bill Stevenson (drums), and the sadly-departed guitarist Frank Navetta (who passed away in 2008).

The collection features 18 songs – most never previously heard – that date back to the band’s earliest material written from 1977 through to 1980, before the recording of the ‘Fat’ EP or the debut ‘Milo Goes To College’ album (1982). Included here are also versions of debut Descendents tracks ‘Ride The Wild’ and ‘It’s A Hectic World’, presented for the first time with vocals by Aukerman, plus a cover of the Dave Clark Five’s ‘Glad All Over’ which gets the full Descendents treatment.

Ahead of it’s release, the band have revealed a taster in the shape of ‘Like the Way I Know’, 56 seconds of filthy punk rock goodness. Check it out, here
