Bluesfest Touring, due to popular demand, has announced a final show for Buddy Guy at the State Theatre, Sydney after the sell-out of previously-announced performances in Melbourne and Sydney.

This final concert on Friday 14th April at Sydney’s State Theatre, will give fans their last ever opportunity to see Buddy play in Australia on his appropriately named, ‘Damn Right Farewell’ tour.

He will also perform at Bluesfest Byron Bay on Saturday 8th April and Bluesfest Melbourne on Sunday 9th April.

At age 86, Buddy Guy has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, has influenced rock titans – Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Gary Clark Jr, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and just about every guitar player who has played the Blues, Blues Rock, and Hard Rock over the past 70 years.

Bluesfest Touring Director, Peter Noble said today “It is the absolute truth to say that Buddy Guy is the last of the greats of the Blues performing today, who also brought the Electric Blues to the world, alongside Muddy Waters, BB King, John Lee Hooker, Albert King and many others from that time.”

“Bluesfest Touring is honoured to be selected to present Buddy Guy as he bids his fans in Australia goodbye next April” Peter Noble concluded.

Buddy Guy has received 8 GRAMMY Awards and excitingly has just been nominated for the 2023 Awards for Best Traditional Blues Album.

He has received 38 Blues Music Awards – the most any artist has ever achieved, and Rolling Stone Magazine has ranked him #23 in its “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”

On his final Australian show at the State Theatre, Sydney, Buddy will be supported by long-time friend and record producer Tom Hambridge who is the recipient of two GRAMMY Awards, an ASCAP award, seven GRAMMY nominations, and seven Boston Music Awards.

While on support acts, exciting news for fans going to Buddy’s sold out shows at Palais Theatre, Melbourne on 10 April and Enmore Theatre on 12 April, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram will be supporting Buddy. The next generation of brilliant American blues artists opening for the last of the greats.
