Scottish Punk icons, Skids have recorded their first ever covers album. It’s a tribute to the Kinema Ballroom in Dunfermline, which served as both club and venue in their formative years. The choice of tracks is based on the seminal tracks played there and the legendary concerts that took place, often with Skids in the role of support act and headliner.
So expect versions of songs originally by The Clash, The Adverts, Magazine and others from the fertile late 70s/early 80s period.
A taster comes in the form of Ultravox’s ‘Young Savage’, an already frantic classic, given a supercharged pounding reworking. We can expect the stomping Skids style to reinvent the other seminal but oft overlooked underground gems in a similarly heroic style.
Songs From A Haunted Ballroom will be available on both CD in a deluxe 6-panel digipak and colored vinyl in a gatefold jacket as well as on digital platforms everywhere from June 4th on Cleopatra Records.
