Canadian band Chastity have just unleashed their latest track “Saliva”, it’s a pretty damn savage tune, that is more than capable of standing out among the plethora of punk music out there at the moment. But when you get the track played alongside the video, you get one of the most powerful, thought provoking, and for some, challenging videos we’ve seen in a while. A couple kissing on a bed, ones black ones white, both are men, behind them a screen plays all too familiar scenes of war, terror, oppression, and other worldly problems that we see on our TV screens everyday, challenging the viewer to question why homophobia and racism exist when their are so many truley loathsome acts taking place.

The video was first premiered at Toronto exhibition space Videofag who described the video as: “The song, accompanied by video, is about conscientiousness, it’s a staring contest with ignorance and it isn’t about to blink. It’s discomfort for those given no reason to feel uncomfortable in the first place. It hopes to be a getting out of the way of inherited or old ignorance. Ambitious, it hopes to be an opportunity for compassion, for individual and social progress and awakening. It’s two boys kissing.”

This is what punk is about !
