BALTIMORE’S answer to Royal Trux, newly rejuvenated sleaze rockers Dope Body, have released a video to accompany “Back in Back” from their May return set, Home Body. And you can watch it below.

Maryland’s self-styled 21st-century Stooges, who returned with their new set of material since 2015’s Kunk just a few weeks ago, had this to say about where they’re at at midsummer in this goddam year of our lord, 2020.

“Not one to back down from a challenge (for instance, literally writing, recording, mixing and mastering 11 fucking songs for the Home Body EP from the safe distance of their respective homes), DB can clearly do anything in 2020.”

The tune is lofi and sleazy, sticky and groovy, coming in on the back of an ominous vocal sample that seems to resonate hard with our viral times.

The band have also put together an eclectic playlist to help guide you through their journey, from which “we, as individuals and as a band, have drawn inspiration: some of our own stuff, some from our close friends, heroes etc. Our style as a band has shifted a bit since 2008; we hope that the eclectic nature of this playlist lends insight into that evolution (/devolution!).”

The playlist, entitled Dope Body & Friends, will lead your brain into all kinds of unusual places, featuring as it does Khruangbin, The Meat Puppets, Throbbing Gristle, Autechre, The Cramps, Ariel Pink, The Gun Club, themselves, and much, much more, over its three and a half hours. Immerse yr skull here.

The Home Body EP is available on your streaming platform of choice, Bandcamp and at Drag City.
