Compelled is the second track to be taken from Montreal’s Land of Talk’s forthcoming album, out via Saddle Creek on July 31st. It follows on from previous single ‘Weight of that weekend’ and according to the bands Elizabeth Powell is “….about being deeply attracted to someone who is in a (toxic) relationship, and wishing things were different,”
Bound by these winding guitar chords, it’s full of these little unexpected twists and turns as it processes serenely forward as the bass drops in and out here and there. Powell’s vocals, aided by moments of beautiful harmony and this melancholic melody, really pull at the heartstrings.
