See: Parcels reveal new visuals for single ‘bemyself’, plus Summer tour dates

Parcels have shared another glimpse of what’s to come on their hotly anticipated debut album today, in the form of new track ‘BEMYSELF’. The track is released today on Kitsuné / Because Music. The full album is expected later this year. You can also watch Parcels perform the new track on a rooftop in New York HERE.

‘BEMYSELF’ is the latest offering in an irresistible series of tracks to come from the Berlin-based Australian 5 piece, Parcels. Picking up perfectly where last single ‘TIEDUPRIGHTNOW’ left us earlier this summer, ‘BEMYSELF’ is an intriguingly sultry take on their signature modern disco, a slow-burning gem that feels destined to soundtrack the lazy days spent in the sun.

On writing ‘BEMYSELF’, the band say – “BEMYSELF was the very first track we recorded together at Mesanic studios. We were all very excited to start the record with this song, as it felt right to dive into a song that really had meaning for us all lyrically; it’s the message you want to tell yourself when recording your first album. The song started with a strong concept – to show our listeners a clear divide of the type of music we like to collide, being old and new. The song was to be split down the middle, starting with the ‘old self’, speaking of the past, with the sound of classic 60’s pop. Then, abruptly transforming into something new age to go with the tone of a new confident self. We tried recording the ‘new age’ second part twice; It never worked out.. The second half, very last minute, turned into another song that would become the last thing we recorded.. exactly 1 year later, making it the beginning and ending of recording process for the album. It made sense to us to have bemyself as the last song of the album.”

3 years ago Parcels made the leap of moving to Berlin, finding in one Europe’s most creative cities the prospects that equalled their ambition. Parcels’ early sound suitably reflects this ability to travel, and transform yourself: following an eclectic thread from The Beach Boys and Chic through to yacht rock heroes like Steely Dan, all the while blending elements of electronica, funk and tirelessly-drilled live musicianship into classic but contemporary pop. It’s in their Berlin exile – and its long history of creative breakthroughs – that the alchemy which makes Parcels so refreshing first crystallised. Theirs is a maniacal taste for perfection when it comes to production, composition and arrangement, with a live show so accomplished that Daft Punk offered to work with them on the spot (the first time the duo have chosen an emerging act to add to their list of collaborators, which also includes the likes of Kanye, The Weeknd and Pharrell).
