There are few bands whose return has been as eagerly awaited as the Stray Cats, and so ahead of a world tour, and new album “40”, is the video for Rock It Off :

Following on from the first track revealed – Cat Fight (over a dog like me) – Rock It Off shows the band recording in the studio.  The band wanted to aim for a more live-like sound on this album, and the warmth and immediacy is readily apparent.  While it’s music that sound like it could have been recorded at any time in the last 70 years, it still sounds like nobody else!

The rockabilly scene may not be as strong today as when they burst onto the scene in the early 80s, but its devotees (including me) are eagerly awaiting this release.  There may be a lot of rockabilly bands recording around the world today, but nobody manages to capture the raw feel, the live excitement and the dirty reverb filled sound quite as well as the Cats.

Sounds like the coolest record of 2019 is already decided anyway.

The album 40 is released on May 24th.

The tour dates are:

21 June Azkena Rock Festival, Vitoria, Spain
