Track: Body Count – Bum-Rush

Ice-T’s rap-metal sextet, Body Count, have unveiled ‘Bum-Rush’, the latest teaser track from their upcoming seventh album, ‘Carnivore’. The band burst onto the scene in 1992 with their anti-police brutality anthem ‘Cop Killer’ (which earned them the ire of Charlton Heston and the PMRC) and have used music as a forum for socio-political commentary on songs like ‘No Lives Matter’ (2017) ever since. They’re continuing that tradition on ‘Bum-Rush’, the video for which features the band staging a violent takeover of a corporate media outlet and broadcasting the ‘real news’. Check it out below.

While lead guitarist Ernie C’s playing gets a little Joe Satriani-ish in places for my liking, both the video and the track itself are undeniably effective as calls to arms and as appetite-whetters for what ‘Carnivore’ has in store. The album is out via Century Media on March 6th and is available to pre-order here. It features guest appearances from Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta, Power Trip’s Riley Gale, and Evanescence’s Amy Lee. Meanwhile, Body Count are preparing to tour Europe this summer to promote the album. Dates are below.
