Jon Hopkins has announced that his first album since 2013’s breakthrough record Immunity is out via Domino Records on May 4th. Called Singularity, Hopkins explores the dissonance between the urban (or at least a dystopian view of it) and the green forest dystopian urbanity and the green forest, rather than the nightlife/night out of Immunity. Like an arc, the record begins and ends on the same note and Hopkins intention is that its to be listened to in one sitting, as one body of work.
That said, he’s released a track from the record, Emerald Rush, accompanied by an animated video, directed by Robert Hunter & Elliot Dear. The track is this rugged, but warm and lovable house/techno, that flits about taking left turns as and when it sees fit, and only when its settled down does the static synth lines and vocals come in, ethereal in the mix as they float over everything.

Singularity (WIG352) will be released on special edition double gatefold coloured LP with photographic print, standard LP, CD and digitally. You can also pre-save the album on Spotify here.
