Alt-pop artist merci, mercy has today released her new single Hold On You, lifted from her upcoming debut album Don’t Take It To Heart, due out Friday 29 August. Alongside the release, she’s announced a string of headline shows in Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Ballarat, Perth and Bridgetown.

Stream Hold On You HERE.

Written when she was just 16, Hold On You leans into darker textures — brooding synths, looped rhythms and ethereal vocals — to explore the emotional tug-of-war that comes with wanting someone you know you shouldn’t. The track mirrors the pull of a toxic crush, drawing you into its orbit with understated intensity.

The single follows a strong run of recent releases including I Bet She’s Really NiceCigarettes In The DarkUnrecognisable, and Angel, the latter of which reached the top of triple j’s most played list. Her music has gained attention across outlets like Rolling Stone, Junkee, and NME, and landed on Spotify’s All New Pop (USA) and Apple Music’s A List Pop.

Don’t Take It To Heart will be merci, mercy’s first full-length release, created with regular collaborators Chris Collins, Milku and Robby De Sa. It pulls together themes of love, loss, growth and self-reflection into a personal, cohesive body of work that builds on her past EPs.

Since her breakout with Into You, which earned spins on BBC Radio 1 and made Flux FM Germany’s Top 50 of 2022, merci, mercy has built a dedicated following both locally and overseas. To date, she’s clocked more than 35 million global streams, secured 10 triple j-playlisted singles, and received commercial airplay from Nova.

Fans can catch her live this spring, with a headline run through the east coast in September, followed by shows in Perth and a slot at Blues at Bridgetown festival in November.
