Australia’s Full Flower Moon Band and Brooklyn’s Gustaf have teamed up on a new track, Scene. Fusing gritty rock riffs with tongue-in-cheek commentary on fame and ego, the track plays like a theatrical sideswipe at the absurdity of celebrity culture — delivered with flair, precision and a wry grin.
Built on shifting guitars and melodic punch, Scene explores the detachment and exaggeration that often surround notoriety. “I wanted to write a song that’s completely about ego,” says FFMB’s frontwoman Kate ‘Babyshakes’ Dillon. “At first, I wasn’t sure if that was a good idea — in case people thought I was being sincere. But I realised that’s exactly what I wanted.”
The lyrics play out from the perspective of an ultra-confident alter ego — one that boasts about being “VIP” with theatrical delivery and a wink. “I wanted to play with the ego and make it something fun,” Babyshakes adds. “It speaks from this extreme perspective.”
Gustaf’s Lydia Gammill lends her unmistakable vocal presence to the track, adding texture and authority. “Lydia is one of the most intimidating and effortlessly cool voices I can think of right now,” says Babyshakes. “It really was a beautiful thing to hear her bring the track to life.”
Scene was mixed by acclaimed producer Tony Buchen, who also worked on FFMB’s ARIA #1 album MEGAFLOWER. With its bold structure, infectious energy, and sharp social commentary, Scene captures the raw spirit of alternative rock and delivers it with global bite.
