Rather than simply taking her acclaimed second album on the road, Romanie is turning every stop of her upcoming Australian tour into a unique creative experiment. The Naarm/Melbourne-via-Belgium singer-songwriter has announced a national headline run from August through November in support of It’s Not That Funny, while also revealing a concept that will see each show feature a one-off collaboration with a local support artist.
The announcement also coincides with Romanie signing to Community Music Publishing, marking another milestone following the release of It’s Not That Funny, which debuted at No. 14 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and earned a nomination for the Australian Music Prize.
Each date on the tour will begin long before audiences arrive. The day before every performance, Romanie will co-write a brand new song with that city’s support act, before the pair debut it live the following night at the conclusion of the support set. The result promises an unrepeatable moment at every show, celebrating spontaneity, vulnerability and the creative process rather than polished perfection.
Supporting Romanie across the tour are Red Hill (Brisbane), Hassall (Geelong), Angie Colman (Perth), Bonniesongs (Sydney), Human Noise (Beechworth), Oscar The Wild (Adelaide), Clover Blue (Castlemaine) and Chitra(Melbourne), with each artist becoming an integral part of the evening rather than simply opening proceedings.
On stage, Romanie and her band will also perform material from It’s Not That Funny, an album that confronts trauma, isolation and self-doubt while steadily moving towards hope. Across singles including ‘Uh Oh’, ‘When Will We Lose Hope?’, ‘I Won’t Yell’ and ‘Falling’, she shifts between turbulent indie rock and quieter moments of reflection, creating an emotionally expansive record that has resonated strongly with audiences and critics alike.
That emphasis on connection extends naturally into the live show. Rather than presenting a fixed performance night after night, Romanie has designed a tour where collaboration becomes part of the experience, reinforcing the themes of community and shared creativity that run throughout the album itself.
