Christine and the Queens is back, and disco is firmly on the agenda. The French pop provocateur has released a new single, Rendez-vous avec toi / Rendez-vous in your arms, in both French and English, signalling another reinvention ahead of a new album due in spring 2027.
Driven by an irresistible disco groove, the track trades introspection for movement, celebrating desire, tenderness and the anticipation of a long-awaited reunion. There are echoes of Giorgio Moroder’s dancefloor wizardry, but the result remains unmistakably Christine and the Queens.
The single arrives with a striking dance-led video filmed in Paris, choreographed by Alexander Ekman and co-directed by Christine and the Queens and Raphaël De Albuquerque. Movement has always been central to the Christine and the Queens experience, and the new video continues that fascination with the relationship between music, theatre and dance.
The release also signals a return to the stage, with four intimate European performances already sold out. Christine and the Queens will reunite with a full live band for shows in Brussels, London, Amsterdam and Paris this December, revisiting established favourites while offering audiences an early taste of unreleased material from the forthcoming album.
It’s another intriguing turn in a career defined by constant transformation.
From the breakthrough success of Chaleur Humaine, which sold more than 1.4 million copies worldwide, to the theatrical ambition of 2023’s PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE, Christine and the Queens has consistently challenged expectations of what pop music can be.
That sprawling 2023 album, co-produced with Mike Dean and featuring Madonna and 070 Shake, pushed the music into darker, more experimental territory. The self-produced Hopecore followed in 2024, continuing an exploration of desire, identity and artistic freedom.
Now, Rendez-vous avec toi / Rendez-vous in your arms signals a return to the dancefloor. Infectious rhythms and romantic urgency suggest a more immediate, physical direction, without sacrificing the emotional complexity that has long distinguished the music.
With a new album on the horizon and intimate shows selling out across Europe, Christine and the Queens is preparing for another ambitious chapter.
