Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers) announces his second solo LP, ‘Born Stupid’ due 12th February and shares the lead single and title track ‘Born Stupid’ via Shinny Disk
On “Born Stupid,” Leary says: “Born Stupid” is the title track for my new album. It was born from a revelation I had while riding my bicycle that I am not as smart as I wish I was. The video for this song is my first video ever attempted. And it is stupid”
The twang of a guitar and that voice is all this track needs to excel. Like a huge hug, Leary’s vocals just comfort you with his tale of just not being smart enough. There’s a familiarity with the tones, especially the country sounding lead guitar, yet the track sounds fresh. Free of fuss and laid back enough for you to lose yourself in its simplicity.
